The first ever Air India Express flight carried 177 Indian citizens back home to Kochi on Thursday night. India launched its operation to bring back its citizens back home from Abu Dhabi during the COVID -19 pandemic.   1. Samudra Setu Turns Saviour

INS Jalashwa at Male was ready on Friday morning to carry Indian evacuees back to Kochi Port. As of May 8, Friday 732 evacuees had registered. This number comprised 19 pregnant women and 14 children. The procedure for ensuring safety by screening passengers and providing them IDs was reported to be in process. Read more here…

In the wake of the chaos outside Liquor Stores last week, the Supreme Court suggested States to consider home or online delivery to maintain norms of social distancing.   1. Public Transport Gets Back In Top Gear

Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said that Public Transport may soon start functioning while adhering to social distancing norms. While addressing members of Bus and Car Operators Confederation of India, Mr Gadkari said that guidelines shall include safety measures such hand wash, sanitising and face masks while operating buses and cars.   1. Dolphins Return To Their Beas Of Operations

Now that Beas’ water quality has improved amid COVID-19, one of the world’s rarest mammals have decided to stage a comeback. Not only at the Beas Conservation Reserve but also in parts of the river 50 kms away. The Punjab Pollution Control Boards also revealed that Beas no longer belongs in the Polluted Category.
