In an address to the nation, on the 12th of May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed on the importance of a self-reliant India. He spoke of the value of local manufacturing, local supply chains and local markets. He reminded citizens of how all demands during the pandemic have been met locally, and that it is time to give back, through promotion of local products. He vouched for India’s talent and expertise, stating that citizens should not be dependent on imports when the country has the capability to produce the same. 2.  LinkedIn, The Host of all Hosts 

On the 13th of May, professional network, LinkedIn, announced a cohesive integration between two of its features. The merging of LinkedIn Live and LinkedIn Events will help companies host live events and manage their online communities in real time. Adapting to the current climate of remote working, the objective is to provide an integrated solution that not only brings the professional community together, virtually, but also strengthens relationships with targeted audiences. 3. MakeMyTrip to now Make My Plate

India’s largest travel aggregator announced its newest business vertical on the 14th of May. MakeMyTrip has entered the food delivery space! Joining the likes of Zomato and Swiggy, who are currently battling it out, the company has responded to the current need of the hour with an online gourmet delivery service. Through partnerships with premium and luxury hotel chains across India, MakeMyTrip seeks to leverage the growing demand of this booming industry. With bookings down, flights suspended and travel at a halt, the firm has had to diversify its offerings to stay relevant in a Covid-19 world. Read more…

In a recent report by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India, approximately one crore job cuts will occur in the fashion industry, if the government doesn’t step in. Through the blend of English lyrics and Indian classical beats, the song evokes hope, joy, strength and resilience during the fight against Covid-19.
